General
How will I know if it is compatible with my adapted cycle?
During our extensive research and development process, we have designed the VelotrainĀ® Accessible Rollers to work with a large majority of tricycle, hand cycles and adapted wheelchairs that have a single drive wheel either at the front (delta format) or at the rear (tadpole trikes). If you have any questions regarding compatibility, feel free to reach out to our team here.
Can I carry them around?
Yes. The rollers have been developed with this in mind and weighing only 6kg, we believe you will be able to manoeuvre the product in your home and on the move. Our Store & Go bag is also suitable for you to use when storing in the home and when out and about.
Do I need to transfer on and off my bike whilst theyāre on the rollers?
We are confident you will be able to use your bike in the same way as you usually do (with or without assistance) and it depends on your cycling equipment and your transfer preference and needs. We have designed the rollers to be used as independently as possible.
Is there any resistance built into the rollers?
Our rollers are a free rolling training aid with smooth bearing rollers that give a rolling road, free roll feel with very little resistance. If you wish, you can use your bike’s gearing to increase cycling resistance for training.
Do the rollers require any power or batteries?
No. They are an indoor or outdoor training aid for your adapted bike. If you have any smart features on your bike, these can still be used without any connection to the rollers.
Do I need to attach my bike to the rollers?
The rollers are a freewheel training aid and do not require your bike to be fixed or attached by the axle or directly onto the drivetrain. You can just roll up the ramp into position and start exercising without any special set up or modifications to your bike.Ā

Usage
Can I use this as a part of my rehab programme?
Yes 100%. We believe the Velotrain Accessible Rollers can play a key role in rehabilitation.
Is this ideal if I am looking to gradually build up my fitness levels?
Yes, our product is ideal for anyone looking to build up their fitness levels without having to leave the home. It is also suitable for athletes who are looking to continue with their training programmes indoors and can be used outdoors for trackside warm-ups.
Can I use this outdoors as well?
Yes. It is suitable for both indoors and outdoors use. However, we would encourage you to ensure that the rollers are placed on a flat surface at all times.
Is it loud when using it indoors?
No. We would not regard the rollers as noisy however there will be a small amount ofĀ sound as the wheel spins through the rollers.
How easy is it to get on and off the rollers? Will I need any assistance?
Our rollers have been designed for you to simply roll on and roll off as and when you are using them. We do not believe you will need any additional assistance for your usual cycling routine although we would always recommend some caution whilst youāre getting used to the product.
Can I use it on the carpet, or does it need to be on a hard floor?
Yes you can use it on a carpet as long as the surface is flat and there are no obstructions. A firm and level floor is best at all times.
Can I use motor assistance on my bike?
Yes. If your bike is equipped with a battery powered motor for pedal assistance then that can be used at your usual levels for even terrain.
Can I change gear whilst using the rollers?
Yes. You can use and change your gears as you usually would outdoors.
Is it hard to stop the rollers?
No, weāve designed the rollers to stop quickly and safely with very little kick back on the pedals if you need to apply the brakes and stop for any reason.
Do the rollers wear out or need any replacement parts?
Our rollers have gone through a robust research and development stage and have been designed to be durable with scuff resistant Acetal material on a lightweight aluminium frame. The steel hubs and sealed roller bearings aim to give you a smooth, maintenance free, and reliable ride.
I have two drive wheels on my bike, is it suitable for these rollers?
Unfortunately, not. Please ensure you are following us on social media and subscribed to our newsletter for updates on any new product developments in the near future.
My drive wheel is behind my seat - do I roll on backwards?
With a rear drive wheel, you can line up the rollers centrally in front of your bike and ride over them until the drive wheel goes up the ramp and bumps down onto the V-groove rollers ready for exercise. Our rollers are low profile at 100mm but if your ground clearance is less than that, you can roll onto them backwards and they will work just as well for your static cycling routine.
Do I need a separate bike for the rollers?
Some users prefer to set up a dedicated exercise bike on their rollers for home training and transfer onto that. Some prefer to transfer onto their bike (or clip on their cycle attachment) and push up onto the rollers to exercise. It’s up to you!
Setup
Do I need to make any modifications to my cycle before using this?
None at all. The rollers have been designed to work with your cycle just as you would use it outdoors and you donāt even need to mount the axle. Just roll on and start pedalling.
What wheel size does it support?
The rollers are suitable for wheel sizes from 12ā (300mm) to 28ā(700cc) but the extreme ends of wheel size should be checked for clearance (of the bike components) for the small sizes and stability of the bike (with parking brakes or wheel blocks on the other wheels) for larger drive wheel sizes.
Do I need any tools to set this up when it arrives or does it come fully assembled?
There are no tools required, and it is ready to roll when you unbox the product from the packaging. However, if you need to adjust the guide wheels out to fit a wide tyre profile then youāll need a suitably sized Allen key and spanner. (See instruction manual for details.)
How much space will I need to set up the rollers to exercise?
As much space as your bike takes up plus an extra meter at least to push up and roll back down the ramp when youāre finished.
Do the rollers change my riding position?
We have designed the rollers to be as low profile as possible but do lift your drive wheel off the ground so have a similar ride position to a slight incline. You shouldnāt have to adjust your bike or seating and may need some small adjustment at the outset for the first couple of uses, especially if youāre used to riding on flat terrain.
Can I use the rollers for different bikes?
Yes. The rollers can be set up for different drive wheel sizes and can be adjusted by hand quickly and easily so you can switch your training between different cycle systems if desired.
Are the rollers suitable for two wheeled bicycles?
Not really. Our rollers were developed to assist people with adapted bikes (usually tricycle systems or similar) to train and exercise at home or on the go without any difficult or complicated axle mounting and simple access (with the ramp).
