Velotrain recently welcomed Stuart Coyle to its operations base, marking an important moment in the journey from early development to product launch.
Innovate UK played a key role in supporting Velotrain during its initial research and development phase, with Stuart providing guidance and insight as the business began to take shape. That relationship proved particularly significant when it came to protecting what Velotrain had built. Through Innovate UK EDGE, the business was able to carry out an external IP audit and access funding for professional IP services — work that resulted in a registered trademark for the Velotrain name and a UK design registration for its accessible cycle roller, both secured in June 2024. For a business focused on supplying specialist products and accessories to help cyclists with reduced mobility train using non-standard and adapted cycles, having that protection in place was a meaningful step forward.
Since those early stages, Stuart has remained closely involved, continuing to support the business through to its successful launch. His recent visit gave him the opportunity to see the commercial product in action, meet the team, and gain a deeper understanding of how Velotrain has evolved.
